Music Appreciation

by John Tew

ONE SEMESTER COURSE MATERIALS

Designed to be used for middle and high school students, including special needs classes, this music appreciation course will provide students with experiences that foster a basic understanding of music theory and connections between the music performed during historical periods from the Middle Ages to the present. The course is complete with a student textbook, accompanying CD with musical examples, detailed lesson plans, an easy to follow pacing guide, and all quizzes, tests, and answer keys providing out-of-field and less experienced teachers with the tools they can use for successful instruction. Students will leave this course, which can be paced for one semester or a full year, with a basic musical vocabulary, knowledge of some of the great musicians of past eras such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky, and connections with music and historical time periods. They will also be able to identify musical styles from listening to examples of music from the Middle Ages through the present. Bring classical music back into the lives of teenagers at your school!

Teacher Review:

Thank you so very much for the password for the teacher manual DVD! I do so enjoy the Music Appreciation material.  It is a wonderful  instructional package and look forward to utilizing all the materials this coming school year as well. I also had no problem opening up the PDF files and all is good.

Many thanks, Ulli Reiner
