3rd Grade Language Arts

by Ann-Marie Trammell

FULL YEAR COURSE MATERIALS

This course contains a variety of different types of text with offerings ranging from Greek Mythology to essays on discoveries. Reading skills such as fact and opinion, plot, characterization, conventions of text, sequential order, main idea, recognizing literary elements, and participating in research are among those introduced throughout the year. An emphasis on a project within each unit not only encourages creativity within reading, writing, listening, and speaking, it also encourages collaboration in order to present information to others. Students will be encouraged to read by the use of high interest texts presented in a variety of ways.

A student workbook provides copies of all texts to students, while teachers are provided with a comprehensive pacing guide, daily lesson plans filled with teacher-tested activities and lessons, and class notes containing important background information for the teacher. Teachers at all levels will appreciate the reduction in preparation time as well as the addition of this course to their curriculum.

"Mrs. Trammell has a dynamic and innovative approach to teaching that is sorely missed in many classrooms across our country. It is easy to see that her many years in the classroom have helped her to develop sound operational strategies to connect with her students on multiple levels. The educational advice and classroom management tips that she gives have worked well for me in a multicultural school environment. In this work she succeeds at offering real world strategies to reach all students." -- James Cartner

"Ann-Marie's strategies, lessons, and writing are very user friendly and work with children! My students always love doing one of the activities that she recommends. I find her lesson plans and accompanying materials to be among the most used in my class." -- Lisa Edmunds

"I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Trammell come and work with my class on a regular basis. My students always looked forward to her coming because they always got to have fun. Not only is her style easy to follow and then copy, her materials are high quality and geared to children. My students were willing to read what she asked them to because of the topics she used. It was amazing to see the spark in the children’s eyes as they were learning." -- Beckie Briggs
